8:00-9:30am Ohia Cafeteria, HEALTH AND HEALING PRACTICES FROM AROUND THE WORLD Presented by students of ESOL 92 - Learn about cultural home remedies, physical and mental activities, and traditional foods that are good for your health in poster sessions by students from China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. Coordinated by KapCC ESOL Instructor Jody Yamamoto.

French Classes will present information on French Culture including bread & cheese under the direction of KapCC French Instructor Renee Arnold

Guest Performers-Instructor, Cheryl Nakasone and Musician, Derek Shiroma, Urizun
Join us for an introduction to the classical and folk dances of Okinawa, a culture that blends Chinese, Japanese and Southeast Asian influences to create a unique and vibrant art. The program will end with the improvisational dance form, atchame and kachashi. This free style dance will be accompanied by the sanshin and the audience is invited to join in the dance alongside the musicians and dancers.
12:00-12:50pm Olapa 205, FISHING FOR TUNA AND BANDIDOS IN SOUTH AMERICA: THE STRANGE TALE OF "TUNA LAUNDERING" featuring a PowerPoint Presentation (in English & Spanish) by KapCC student Christopher Stump, coordinated by KapCC Spanish Club Advisor Linde Keil. EVERYBODY IS WELCOME !
3:00-4:30pm Ohia 118, BAG IT Screen the award-winning film Bag It, a touching and funny documentary about how we use and abuse plastic. Bag It follows everyman Jeb Berrier as he tries to make sense of our dependence on plastic bags, as he soon learns that the problem extends past landfills to oceans, rivers and ultimately human health. This film explores the international issue of ocean plastic pollution and its impacts on even in remote areas such as the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Screening will be followed by an open discussion. Hosted by the Ecology Club & sponsored by the Surfrider Foundation and Patagonia

Taste freshly made Nasi Goreng & Gado Gado, coordinated by visiting CCFAP Administrators Risma and Tri and the KCC Chef Dave Hamada. Also learn about the art of batik by Lusia, Budi and Erni including illustrating batiks and handicraft from around Indonesia. Hear Indonesian popular music, see Indonesian Dance, and experience The Best of Adventuring of Indonesia with Ketut, Mukaram, Silver and Sholahudin.
10:00-10:30am Ohia Cafeteria BALINESE MUSIC AND DANCE OF THE BARIS
Guest Performers Annie Reynolds and I Made Widana. Baris is a traditional war dance of Bali, and depicts the feelings of a young warrior prior to battle. In sublime movements this dance glorifies the strength of the triumphant Balinese warrior.
10:30-12:00pm, Ohia 118, THE LINGUISTS: INTERNATIONAL FILM SHOWING
Introduced by KapCC Linguistics Professor Susan Inouye. This 2008 documentary film addresses linguistic issues including the spread of major global languages and how they contribute to language extinction, and some of the political and social reasons that languages have been repressed. This film illustrates reasons that language revitalization and language documentation are so very important.

Performed by students Hin Ting Tai, Donna Wong, Hyo Won Lee, Young Eun Park, Danielle Endo, Sara Taketa, Matthew Burnam, and Kelly Kunikane.
11:30-1:00pm Ohia Cafeteria, A LOOK AT SUSTAINABLE INDUSTRIES, presented by students of ESOL 94 - Find out about businesses and practices that do not exhaust our natural resources or cause significant damage to the environment in poster sessions by students from Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Brazil, and Ethiopia. Coordinated by KapCC ESOL Instructor Jody Yamamoto.
12:15-1:30pm, Olona 201, THIRTY YEARS AFTER THE KHMER ROUGE: THE SEARCH FOR JUSTICE IN CAMBODIA Guest Speaker: Mr. Phil Estermann, Grants Officer in the East-West Center's Research Program will speak on the powerfully emotional and complex issues following the reign of terror between the years of 1975-1979 in Cambodia.
1:15-1:45pm, Ohia Cafeteria, DANCES OF SEVILLANA KapCC’s Spanish Language Instructors Ibeth Pena and Fernand Cortiguera's Spanish Class and Spanish Club will perform sevillanas, a type of folk music sung and written in Seville.

9:45-11:30am Ohia Cafeteria ALTERNATIVE HEALTH PRACTICES AROUND THE WORLD Students in ESOL 92 will present posters introducing concepts of good health around the world, as well as various prevention and treatment techniques in China, Korea, Japan, and other countries. Coordinated by KapCC ESOL Instructor Yoneko Kanaoka.
10:45 - 11:45am Ohia Cafeteria AFRICAN MUSIC BY SANGO
Guest Performer: Sango Muyiwa, who studied rhythms of Cuba performs sacred bata drum rhythms. This presentation is a "hands on" drum circle, village creation, lecture/demo, audience participation which is designed to entertain, teach, educate and bring about cultural awareness. In this presentation you can Learn by Playing instruments and do Call/Response singing.
10:45-11:30am Olona 208, VISUALIZING REALITY: PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE REAL WORLD Guest Speaker: Pulitzer Prize nominated Photographer Jeff Widener will speak about the trials and tribulations of doing photojournalism in challenging situations.

Aloha and Kokoro Interactive presentations highlighting similarities between Hawaii and Japan presented by students in Japanese 290, Japanese Language and Culture, Learning in Application, Coordinated by Linda Fujikawa
International Café- Hawaiian Teruteru Bozus, good luck weather charms made by students of the International Cafe will be sold as an ongoing fundraiser to raise the spirit of the victims of the disaster in Japan. Funds will be sent to the Miyagi School for Deaf and the Smile Link Project, delivering goodwill and necessary items directly to the people in the evacuation centers and children of the school for the deaf.
Okonomiyaki-Delicious Japanese version of pizza made by students of the International Cafe as a fundraiser for International Cafe, KCC's national award-winning intercultural service learning pathway of KapCC.
12:30-1:30pm, Great Lawn, BURMESE CHINLONE: THE TRADITIONAL SPORT OF BURMA
Chinlone is over 1,500 years old and was once played for Burma royalty, using a basket-rounded ball made of woven rattan. Over the centuries, players have developed more than 200 different ways of kicking the ball. Many of the moves are similar to those of Burma dance and martial art. A combination of sport, agility and dance, come on over to the great lawn and play this graceful game. Organized by KapCC’s Asian Studies Instructor Ryan Koo & the students of Asian 100.

Based on the award-winning novel by Minato Kanae, Confessions is an emotionally devastating drama about a teacher's terrifying plan to avenge her daughter's murder. This film is a strong indictment against modern Japanese society, portraying a dark inner world of modern Japanese youths without any mercy, exploring the horrific lengths one will go in the name of vengeance, fame, and friendship.

9:15-10:30am Olona 115 Locating Afghanistan in History and the Region: How Does Afghanistan’s Past Contribute to the Present? Cold War politics between the Soviet Union & the United States over the years has developed in Afghanistan becoming a substantial battlefield. It is now over 30 years since the Soviet War in Afghanistan began and 10 years since the US forced the Taliban from power. How does history help us to understand the life circumstances of ordinary Afghans? This talk will offer an overview of Afghan history, especially since the Soviet Afghan War began in 1979, to consider how this past helps to explain the present circumstances. Guest Speaker Dr. James Weir first began conducting anthropological fieldwork in the Afghanistan and Pakistan region as Peace Corps Volunteer, and has worked on Afghan refugee repatriation programs, taught at Kabul University and recently returned from 10 months of research work in Kabul.

12:15-1:30pm, Olona 201, CAREERS IN THE US FOREIGN SERVICE: CHALLENGES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Guest speaker: Mr. Eric Milstead, EWC Diplomat in Residence. Mr. Milstead will recount stories of working at the Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, developing Emergency Action Plans for evacuations, surviving attacks on embassies, and many other close encounters. Working in the Foreign Service, these events aren’t considered unusual, but simply the environment one must work in as a Foreign Service Officer.
